LICS – Lexington Interfaith Community Services
LICS is a local interfaith social services ministry serving families and individuals struggling to meet their basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter. St. Peter’s folks volunteer on the first Thursday of every month and have donations for needed supplies throughout the year.
Operation Christmas Child
Each year our congregation participates in Operation Christmas Child – bringing good news and great joy through the power of a simple gift. What goes into a shoe-box is fun, but what comes out is eternal. As children receive gift-filled shoe-boxes they hear the Gospel. You can have a role in reaching millions of children with God’s love by supporting this project of Samaritan’s Purse.
Our goal for 2017 is 200 Shoe-boxes! We are collecting things throughout the year to make it easier.
August – School supplies: crayons, pens, pencils & sharpeners, small notebooks, solar calculators.
September – Stuff animals.
October – Toys, puzzles, games and “WOW” Items: click here for suggestions.
October 22 is our packing party! Join us!
This is an Educational Ministry mission outreach program at St. Peter’s. Children who do not have enough food on the weekends and extended holiday periods when our school district is closed will be provided snack sacks filled with nutritious items. We currently provide 150 Snack Sacks each week during the school year for children at Meadow Glen Elementary and Middle Schools.
The following individual packets are needed: Instant oatmeal, granola bars, instant grits, fruit cups, cereal (individual serving size), applesauce, peanut butter, snack crackers, fruit juices or Capri-Sun & raisins
Please put food items in the large box in the Parish Life Center marked “SNACK SACKS”.
We will gladly purchase items if you would prefer to write a check marked “Snack Sacks”.
If you have questions, please contact Darlene Lavisky.
